About

My name is David Chapman and I am the pastor of The River, a growing church located in Safford, Arizona.  I have been doing this for awhile now, about 20 years.  I have pastored in the states of Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia.  God has blessed me with my wife Debbie by my side. I enjoy ministering the Word of God… because that’s God’s purpose for me on the earth.  I also enjoy writing and have written a few books along the way.  I hope to write many more.  I have a Masters degree in theology, but my real education came at the feet of Jesus in my private time with Him.

I always see the best in people and in every situation, simply because I know where He has brought me from and where He is taking me.  It’s a great ride because His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  My vision for the church is to see every believer fully engaged in ministry of some type.  Each fulfilling his or her destiny.  We are all different and each significant to God’s plan.

The River is a church where you can come as you are, but don’t be surprised if you leave changed, for the better.  We are all walking this journey one day at a time and my purpose as pastor is to teach you what the Word of God says for successful daily living.  For those of you living in southeast Arizona, I hope to see you soon and for those who live outside of the area, I will enjoy getting to know you online and helping you any way possible.

  1. Pastor Chapman,

Where in Indiana did you pastor? I am from Indianapolis but just moved here to be with my wife Amanda. What made you pick Safford as a place to start a church? How many members currently attend? What is your worship service like? We are thinking about checking you guys out.

    Thanks!
    Dave
